Shortstop’s Nutty New Mexico Ride
Shortstop’s Nutty New Mexico Ride
September 20, 2024 - September 23, 2024
McGinn's PistachioLand Home of the World's Largest Pistachio, 7320 Hwy 54 70, Alamogordo, NM 88310, USA
THE MEET UP: Meets at Goldfield Chevron (3265 S Goldfield Rd, Apache Junction) @ 8:00am - KSU 8:30am RC – Tyrah "Shortstop" Lawson Approximate miles: 1,087 Ride difficulty – Advanced (Distance, mountain grades and curves)
THE RIDE: Tyrah “Shortstop” Lawson is taking us on an epic 4-day, 3-night ride to see the World’s Largest Pistachio. The pistachio stands over 30ft tall and was built in honor of Tom McGinn, the founder of Pistachio Land. But, according to Tom’s reputation for “going big”, it is probably still not big enough. The McGinn Family has been farming pistachios since 1980 and Pistachio Land is home to 12,300 trees and 6,000 wine producing grapevines. But wait, there’s more! We will also see the breathtaking White Sands National Park, stay in the historic little gem of a town that is Silver City, witness the ancient cliff dwellings of the Mogollon culture and all this, while we soak up the beautiful New Mexico landscape, as we ride the desert side of the famous Devil’s Highway loop. This promises to be typical Shortstop adventure; See all the cool stuff we can, then ride, ride, and ride some more!
