Bongo's Veteran's Day Ride
Bongo's Veteran's Day Ride
November 11, 2024 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Anthem Veterans Memorial, 41703 N Gavilan Peak Pkwy, Anthem, AZ 85086, USA
THE MEET UP: Sonoran Circle K ( 2575 Sonoran Desert Dr) @ 8:30am, KSU 9:00am RC: Devin "Bongo" Ellis Approximate miles: 45 Ride Difficulty: Easy
THE RIDE: This is an important day to take the time to honor those who have served and sacrificed for our nation. So this Veterans Day, We are taking a ride over to the Anthem Veterans Memorial. The memorial's five white pillars represent the nation's military branches and are arranged in Department of Defense order of precedence: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Each pillar has an elliptical opening that slants downward toward the Great Seal of the United States. On Veterans Day – November 11 – the design allows the sun's rays to spotlight the Great Seal at 11:11 am Mountain Standard Time. The design goal was 11:11:11 am, but the variations each year cause the precise alignment over the next 100 years to be between 11:10:58 and 11:11:22. Either way, this is a must see event and it's not like we're not gonna ride straight over the Anthem--we gotta at least try to longer way to get there!
Admission is free, but you may want to bring a small portable chair or blanket to sit on while we wait.
CLOSED EVENT: Chapter activities are conducted primarily for the benefit of H.O.G. Chapter members. Approved guests are always welcome, but must sign a release waiver pre-ride.

Potter’s Bun Burnin’ Oatman Overnighter
Potter’s Bun Burnin’ Oatman Overnighter
November 16, 2024 - November 17, 2024
Oatman, AZ 86433, USA
THE MEET UP: Sonoran Circle K ( 2575 Sonoran Desert Dr) @ 8:00am, KSU 8:30am RC: Keith “Potter” Preston Approximate miles – 470 (Round trip) Ride difficulty – Medium (Distance and curves)
THE RIDE: Potter’s taking us on a long ride up to the historic little town of Oatman via old Route 66. The town of Oatman started life over 100 years ago as a mining tent camp, and quickly became a flourishing gold-mining center. As the gold dwindled, and all but few residents pulled up stakes, many of the burros used for labor were abandoned. For more than a hundred years these little burros have flourished in the streets and hills surrounding Oatman and they are tame enough to be hand fed. Oatman is a great little town and this is one of the more popular riding destinations in the state. Potter is also planning to hold a 5 card stud poker run as we make our way up to Oatman (With card stops at Wickenburg, Wikieup, Mother Road H-D, Mr. D'z, and Cool Springs Station). The high hand will win an original piece of pottery, made just for this ride! After Oatman, we will be heading to Laughlin for the night, then making our way home on Sunday. You wont want to miss this one folks!
