Planners Palace or Picnic Ride
May 4, 20248:00 am - 3:00 pm Prescott, AZ, USA
THE MEET UP: Meets at Sonoran Circle K (2575 Sonoran Desert Dr) @ 8:00 am - KSU 8:30 am RC: Clive “Planner” Francis Approximate miles – 178 (Round trip) Ride difficulty – Medium (Mountain grades and switchbacks)
THE RIDE: As Harley riders, we are all about freedom and this Saturday, you are free to choose--Clive “Planner” Francis is taking us on a nice ride up the hill to historic Prescott, where you can take your pick of lunch spots; Dine at the Palace Restaurant and Saloon or picnic on the lawn at the Yavapai County Courthouse. The Palace Saloon is perhaps one of the most historic bars in the state. Located on the infamous Whisky Row, you can pick up a good deal of its history while dining in and chowing down on a buffalo burger. The Prescott Territorial Courthouse, on the other hand, offers up a shady, peaceful spot to plop down and picnic while taking in the historic surrounds of downtown Prescott. The Courthouse lawn also has a shared history with the Palace. In the great fire of 1900, a group of cowboys grabbed the fancy hand-carved Brunswick Palace bar and carried it out of the burning building, setting it down across the street on the courthouse lawn. Whichever one you choose; you are sure to have a great lunch with all of your HOG 93 friends. See? We are all about the choices!
CLOSED EVENT: Chapter activities are conducted primarily for the benefit of H.O.G. Chapter members. Approved guests are always welcome, but must sign a release waiver pre-ride.
THE MEET POINT: Meets at Sonoran Circle K (303 & I-17) @ 7:30am - KSU 8:00am RC – Karen “Ruby Rider” Hopp Approximate miles – 243 (Round trip) Ride difficulty – Medium (Mountain grades and switchbacks) THE RIDE: Let’s head north on I-17 to explore Montezuma’s Well. Come ride with to learn more about the formation of this sinkhole and visit the Sinagua Indian ruins. But don’t drink the water in the well, it’s poisonous! From there we will head east on Hwy 260 and have lunch at the Pinewood Tavern in Pine before heading back down to the valley. One of my favorite loop roads, you won’t want to miss this springtime ride. All HOG 93 members and guests are welcome, but remember, the ladies ride up front on this LOH ride! CLOSED EVENT: Chapter activities are conducted primarily for the benefit of H.O.G. Chapter members. Approved guests are always welcome, but must sign a release waiver pre-ride.
May 18, 20247:00 am - 12:00 pm Phil's Filling Station, 16852 E Parkview Ave, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268, USA
THE MEET UP: Meets at Sonoran Circle K (303 & I-17) @ 7:00am-KSU 7:30am RC – Len “Wrong Way” Tamboer Approximate miles – 81 (Round trip) Ride difficulty – Easy
THE RIDE: Len "Wrong Way" Tamboer is takin' us on a nice little Saturday Brunch ride to Phil's Filling Station in Fountain Hills. We know what you’re thinking...."Gas station food?" Not to worry, if you're still getting over that last gas station sushi adventure, you have nothing to fear on this ride. This place is a classic truck stop–style diner, offering a familiar menu amid a collection of vintage memorabilia. At any rate, this food should go down better than that old hot dog at the back of the rack at Circle K--all the fun without the risk! Of course, we're taking the longer route---You know how we bikers are, got to build up that appetite.
CLOSED EVENT: Chapter activities are conducted primarily for the benefit of H.O.G. Chapter members. Approved guests are always welcome, but must sign a release waiver pre-ride.
